Mission Statement

The Buffalo State Liberty Partnerships Program’s mission is to develop and implement systemic and supportive interventions and opportunities for students identified as being at risk of dropping out of  school.

LPP does this to ensure that these students will graduate from high school and will be prepared to enter postsecondary education and the workforce.

Vision Statement

The Liberty Partnerships Program, a collaboration of postsecondary institutions, K-12 schools, parents, community-based organizations, local governments and the business community will provide leadership and resources to ensure that students who are at risk will achieve academic and personal excellence, graduate from high school and enter postsecondary education and the workforce as highly competent and compassionate adults.

History

The Liberty Partnerships Program was established in 1988 under Section 612, Subdivision 6 of the Education Law to address the significant high school dropout rates among New York's youth. 

Liberty Partnerships Program is included in the New York State Education Department’s Statewide Plan for Higher Education as part of its strategy to maximize the successful transition of middle and high school students, who are at-risk of dropping out of school, into graduates who are fully prepared for the rigors of higher education and the competitive demands of the workplace.
